Scoring and Golf Terms
The tournament covered 54 holes, equivalent to three standard rounds of 18 holes. In stroke play, competitors’ scores are calculated by adding the strokes taken on each hole; the lowest total wins. A player is under par when they have taken fewer strokes than the course’s designated par. A birdie is a score of one stroke under par on a hole. Kumar Badugu made three consecutive birdies on the 15th, 16th and 17th holes in the final round. A playoff is used to determine a winner when competitors finish a tournament tied; its format is set by the event’s rules.
