Medical and legal procedures
Cardiac arrest occurs when the heart abruptly stops pumping blood effectively. CPR is an emergency procedure involving chest compressions, and, where appropriate, rescue breaths, to maintain blood circulation until further treatment is available. A medico-legal case (MLC) is registered when an incident has legal implications or requires official investigation. A post-mortem examination is a medical examination of a body after death; it can help establish the cause and circumstances of death. An MLC was registered in Patekar’s case, and a post-mortem examination was expected to be conducted.
Recognition and exam facts
The Padma Shri is one of India’s civilian awards and is conferred by the President of India. The National Film Awards are national-level awards administered by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to recognise achievements in Indian cinema.
