On 30 October 2026, former Indian cricket captain Rahul Dravid and Olympic medallist Saina Nehwal were nominated to the Organising Company Board for the 2030 Commonwealth Games. The Union Sports Ministry made the appointments earlier that week.
Board appointments and Games plans
The Games are scheduled to be held in Ahmedabad, India, with 17 sporting disciplines. Jinal Mehta, owner of the Indian Premier League franchise Gujarat Titans, and entrepreneur Ananya Birla have also been nominated as private-sector representatives.
Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi is expected to chair the organising company. Union Sports Secretary Hari Ranjan Rao and Indian Olympic Association president PT Usha are likely to be vice-chairpersons. Gujarat government principal secretary M Thennarasan has been appointed chief executive officer.
As of 30 October, Dravid and Nehwal had not officially confirmed whether they would accept their nominations. The inclusion of athletes and private-sector representatives aims to bring sporting and corporate expertise into planning and management, departing from the model used for the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games.
