The DAANVEER Initiative
Context: The Ministry of Panchayati Raj has called for nationwide public participation under the ‘DAANVEER’ initiative, encouraging citizens, CSR entities, and the Indian diaspora to donate desktop computers to verified Gram Panchayats.

About The DAANVEER Initiative:
What It Is?
- DAANVEER is a technology-enabled, people-led Computer Crowdsourcing Initiative that allows individuals, philanthropic organizations, CSR partners, and the diaspora to directly purchase and donate standardized desktop computers to state-verified Gram Panchayats needing digital hardware.
Nodal Organisation:
- Nodal Ministry: Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR), Government of India.
- Complements infrastructure funding provided under the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA).
Aim: To bridge the rural digital divide and strengthen grassroots digital governance by augmenting IT hardware across Gram Panchayats through voluntary, transparent public contributions and participatory governance.
Key Features of DAANVEER:
- Seamless App-to-Marketplace Integration: Citizens select verified Panchayats on the Meri Panchayat App and are redirected to DigiHaat (ONDC network) with pre-filled delivery and Panchayat recipient details, eliminating manual data entry.
- Standardized Hardware Specifications: Donors choose from pre-configured, government-approved computer bundles meeting exact technical benchmarks required for administrative software.
- State-Level Need Verification: Only Gram Panchayats formally verified and mapped by respective State Governments as lacking adequate IT infrastructure are listed on the platform.
- End-to-End Real-Time Tracking: Provides a transparent e-commerce tracking journey—from digital payment and dispatch to physical delivery and final receipt confirmation.
- Digital Recognition & Formal Receipting: Once the Gram Panchayat Secretary officially acknowledges delivery, the system automatically generates a verifiable Certificate of Appreciation for the donor.
Significance:
- Equips Panchayats with digital infrastructure for e-governance, financial management, land records, planning, and citizen services.
- Creates a transparent channel for NRIs, urban migrants, and corporate CSR to support the digital development of their villages.
