Context: Union Minister for Rural Development launched Mission Samriddh Gaon at Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi, rolling out its initial pilot phase in two blocks of Madhya Pradesh.

About Mission Samriddh Gaon:
What It Is?
- Mission Samriddh Gaon is an integrated rural transformation and livelihood-saturation framework. It coordinates Central and state welfare programs to deliver comprehensive infrastructure, assured basic amenities, diversified income streams, and targeted social protection directly to rural households and Gram Panchayats.
Nodal Ministry: Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), Government of India.
Pilot Locations: Budni block (Sehore district) and Khategaon block (Dewas district) in Madhya Pradesh.
Aim: To build self-reliant, poverty-free, and economically vibrant villages where every rural family possesses sustainable livelihood opportunities and access to basic amenities, thereby eliminating distress rural-to-urban migration.
Key Features of Mission Samriddh Gaon:
- Family-Level Saturation & Bottom-Up Planning: Maps household eligibility and prepares family, Gram Panchayat and block-level plans to ensure universal access to welfare and livelihood schemes.
- Inter-Departmental Convergence: Integrates agriculture, health, education, skilling, rural development and infrastructure schemes through a unified delivery framework.
- Integrated Farming Systems (IFS): Diversifies small farms beyond monoculture by integrating horticulture, fisheries, livestock, poultry and beekeeping.
- Women Farmers’ Empowerment: Builds on the Lakhpati Didi model through targeted advisory, microcredit and enterprise opportunities for women farmers.
- Rural Infrastructure & Value Addition: Promotes warehouses, cold chains and village-level processing units to reduce post-harvest losses and retain local value.
Significance:
- Transforms villages into self-sustaining hubs of entrepreneurship, employment and value addition, strengthening grassroots growth for Viksit Bharat 2047.
- Creates local jobs, basic amenities and stable incomes, reducing economic vulnerability and distress-driven rural-to-urban migration.
