Context: The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Cultus Education, with support from Amazon Web Services (AWS), launched a nationwide Cloud and AI skilling initiative.
About The Nationwide Cloud and AI Skilling Initiative:
What It Is?
- A nationwide, 100% online digital workforce development and skilling program designed to bridge the technical divide in non-metropolitan regions. It delivers an outcome-led learning pathway—from self-paced digital literacy and instructor-led technical coursework to globally recognized AWS certifications and employer interview linkages.
Organisations Involved:
- Nodal & Institutional Oversight: National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), under the guidance of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India.
- Technology Partner: Amazon Web Services (AWS) (providing AWS digital training content and the AWS re/Start program).
Aim: To provide underserved youth in Tier-2 and Tier-3 towns with industry-ready technical skills, credentials and direct access to technology jobs.
Key Features of the Initiative:
- Two-Tier Skilling Architecture:
- Foundational Layer: Equips 150,000 learners with self-paced digital literacy in cloud concepts and AI fundamentals using AWS digital training content.
- Intensive Layer: Selects 10,000 qualified participants for the free, cohort-based AWS re/Start program offering instructor-led, job-ready training.
- Comprehensive Technical Curriculum: Covers core infrastructure competencies including Linux operating systems, cloud architecture, networking protocols, cybersecurity essentials, Python programming, relational databases, and AI fundamentals.
- Hands-On Experiential Learning: Blends theoretical instruction with real-world scenario labs and capstone assignments guided by accredited technical trainers and professional mentors.
- Industry-Recognized Certification: Trainees are prepared and supported to earn global AWS Certifications (validating entry-level cloud practitioner and associate skills).
- Culminating National Hackathon & Placement Support: Concludes with a National Hackathon allowing candidates to showcase cloud/AI solutions before hiring managers, alongside direct interview opportunities with local and national technology employers.
