Context: The Indian Army’s Territorial Army, in collaboration with the non-profit think tank CyberPeace, has launched the 3rd edition of Terrier Cyber Quest 2026 (TCQ 3.0).

What It Is?
- Terrier Cyber Quest 2026 (TCQ 3.0) is an apex national defense hackathon and cyber challenge organized by the Indian Army’s Territorial Army. It serves as an open-innovation bridge connecting the Armed Forces with ethical hackers, software developers, AI researchers, and digital communicators across the country.
Lead Organisation: Territorial Army (TA), Indian Army.
Aim: To develop indigenous cyber solutions, identify vulnerabilities and strengthen India’s defence against cyber and information warfare.
Key Features of Terrier Cyber Quest 2026:
- Track 1 – Bug Hunting (Infrastructure Defense): A technical offensive-security track featuring an online Capture-the-Flag (CTF) qualifier, culminating in a 36-hour live in-person sandbox finale in New Delhi where finalists discover and document vulnerabilities in simulated critical national infrastructure.
- Track 2 – AI Kavach (Machine Learning Security): Focuses on developing AI/ML-driven algorithmic architectures for predictive cyber threat intelligence, real-time telemetry anomaly detection, and automated autonomous defense response mechanisms.
- Track 3 – Creators Challenge (Cognitive Domain Defense): A digital storytelling and media track for creators, designers, and communicators to produce counter-narrative strategies against deepfakes, phishing scams, state-backed disinformation, and online social-engineering threats.
- Structured Multi-Phase Evaluation: Progresses from nationwide open registration to an online shortlisting phase, leading to a Grand Finale in New Delhi.
- Civil-Military Technical Synergy: Designed as a collaborative model that integrates academia, civilian tech startups, and military specialists under the Territorial Army’s Citizens’ Army mandate.

- Promotes indigenous cybersecurity tools and technologies, reducing dependence on foreign systems for protecting critical networks.
- Builds resilience against AI-driven cyberattacks, malware and digital disinformation, strengthening preparedness for grey-zone warfare.
