The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) launched the Network Anubhav Platform in New Delhi on 4 November 2026. The geospatial dashboard combines anonymised consumer connectivity tests with TRAI’s independent drive-test results.
Network data and services
The platform combines anonymised data from TRAI’s MySpeed and MyCall mobile applications with its drive tests. Consumers can compare mobile and fixed broadband performance by location, service provider and technology, including 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G, using measures such as download and upload speeds. Results include P50 (median speed), P80 for mobile broadband and P90 for fixed broadband; the latter two indicate the share of tests meeting or exceeding the reported value. Telecom Service Providers can use a secure interface to access anonymised call-quality, coverage and internet-test data, with location, date and time, to identify areas for network improvement.
DND services and connectivity testing
The platform’s web interface also lets subscribers manage Do Not Disturb preferences, register grievances and track their resolution. TRAI Chairman Anil Kumar Lahoti said it is intended to improve transparency, empower consumers, support network improvement and help curb unsolicited commercial communication. TRAI also released a MySpeed Software Development Kit for eligible third-party apps to add connectivity-measurement capabilities and expand data collection. The portal is anubhav.trai.gov.in.
Important Facts for Exams
- TRAI’s advisory role in licensing: Under the TRAI Act, the Union government must seek TRAI’s recommendations on licensing matters, but those recommendations are generally advisory rather than binding.
- Distributed-ledger controls for commercial messages: India’s 2018 TCCCPR framework requires access providers to deploy distributed-ledger technology for commercial-message controls, including telemarketer registration and consent records.
- Two-tier telecom complaint redressal: TRAI’s complaint-redressal regulations require providers to operate complaint centres and appellate authorities, giving subscribers a second tier for unresolved complaints.
