Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Safran Helicopter Engines signed a final contract in Bengaluru on 26 August 2026 to develop and produce a new high-power turboshaft engine for 13-tonne helicopters. The agreement was signed through SAFHAL Helicopter Engines Pvt. Ltd. (SAFHAL), a joint venture between HAL and Safran Helicopter Engines.

The International Centre for Automotive Technology issued its first compliance certificate for a 15-metre multi-axle sleeper bus on 26 August 2026 in Manesar, Haryana. Researchers Discover New Sunflower Species in Arunachal Pradesh
Researchers from the CSIR-Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (IHBT), based in Himachal Pradesh, identified a new plant species of the sunflower family in Arunachal Pradesh. The species was named Doronicum sanctum and was formally described in a study published on 11 August 2026 in a Springer Nature journal.
CSIR-NAL Unveils Indigenous Micro Gas Turbine Engines

Debadatta Priyadarshi of Bhubaneswar, Odisha, won a gold medal at the 58th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) 2026. The competition was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from 10 July to 19 July 2026, and India finished with four gold medals in the event.
